The Fall Festival
The 2008 Jackson Street Fall Festival is set to be the premier art, film, music and shopping event in Central Mississippi. The Festival will kick-off at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday with a Duathlon benefiting the Mississippi Children’s Home, and open for the general public at 11 a.m. The Jackson Street District, stretching from I-55 to Trace Station, will be alive with over 100 fine artists and craftsmen. There will be delicious food from Jackson Street restaurants The Parker House, Jammin’ Beignetz, Blue Moon Cafe’, and Rossini's, as well as the Ridgeland First Baptist Church.
The Jackson Street District prides itself on being comprised of locally-owned small businesses. Come shop our fantastic local merchants including: B. Liles Studio, CoatTails, Jackson Street Gallery, Blaylock Fine Art Photography, Beyond Play Therapy Group, Amy Head Cosmetics, Fine Eyes, Libby Story & Co., Chandeliers, Smitten, and more.
Family and community are a vital part of the Jackson Street District. The Ridgeland First United Methodist Church will be hosting kid-friendly activities and the Pavilion at Jackson St. and the railroad tracks will be hosting a variety of entertainment from our community schools and organizations. Our evening entertainment takes on a blues theme as we premier the new feature film “M for Mississippi”, a compelling and entertaining documentary profiling 12 of Mississippi’s most talented, yet largely unknown bluesmen. The film will show outdoors, “drive-in” style on the 20-foot outdoor movie screen behind Blaylock Fine Art Photography and Ro Chez. Living legend L.C. Ulmer, who is featured in the film, will perform directly after the film. Bring your lawn chairs and leave ‘em for your dancin’ shoes.
